What to expect

  • Two images side by side — identical or different.
  • Answer as fast as you can, then the next pair appears.
  • Sliders in the middle keep moving to distract you.
  • Infinite items across three minutes.

What it measures

  • Simple reaction time
  • Sustained concentration
  • Accuracy at pace

Instructions

  1. 1Decide fast: are the two images identical or different?
  2. 2Use the buttons, or A (different) / L (identical).
  3. 3Ignore the moving sliders — they don't matter.
  4. 4Keep a fast, steady rhythm for the full three minutes.

Tips

  • Speed and accuracy both score — don't trade one away.
  • Don't let the sliders pull your eyes to the middle.
What the task looks like

Reaction Time

Two images appear side by side and you decide, as fast as you can, whether they are identical or different. Then the next pair appears immediately. Sliders drift in the middle of the screen as a deliberate distraction, for three intentionally monotonous minutes.

Reaction speed is one of the five ability areas NATS names. What is actually being measured is not your fastest single response but your consistency — whether you are still as accurate in the third minute as the first. That is trainable, and it is why the test is boring on purpose.
